A finished example

What a working origin story looks like on the page.

This is what a draft looks like at the end of the hour, written to the five question structure for Keelhaven, an illustrative company. Notice how little of it is about features and how much is about a problem someone felt.

GrowthPathKeelhaven Origin Story

The open

Keelhaven is the system of record for every AI application a company runs in production.

01

What we built

A single record of every AI application, model call and data access across a company's cloud accounts, providing:

  • A complete audit trail of AI activity, from the first prompt to the data it touched
  • Alerts in real time for policy violations, unapproved tools and unusual data access
  • A live map of AI activity to the compliance frameworks auditors ask about, such as NIST AI RMF
02

Why we built it

  • Industry surveys keep landing in the same place: well under half of AI projects make it from pilot to production, and only about one in five show a measurable return.
  • The teams shipping AI applications cannot see what those applications do once they are live, and bolting governance on afterward adds months to a launch.
  • The monitoring tools companies already own were built for software that does the same thing every time. AI does something slightly different on every call.
  • So nobody can say with confidence which data was touched, whether policy was followed, or how people are actually using the tools.
03

Why we're the right ones to build it

  • We built and scaled a security product before this one, from a first customer to several hundred enterprise accounts, including two of the ten largest US banks.
  • We know what enterprises will deploy (resilient, scalable, inside their own cloud) and what they reject (proxies, agents on every host, SDK rewrites, SaaS that takes their data out).
  • We move fast, and we solve the technical problem rather than talk about it.
04

Meaningful benefits

  • Audits cost less, because the evidence is produced continuously instead of assembled in a scramble.
  • AI projects reach production sooner, because governance is no longer the last gate.
  • Fewer AI related security incidents, and faster answers when one happens.
05

How it works, from here to live

  • Deployment in under an hour, inside the customer's own cloud.
  • Automatic discovery of the AI inventory: models, agents, guardrails, data stores, prompt routers.
  • Inference activity, configuration and token usage captured from the first minute.
  • A complete registry of AI projects within hours.
  • Alerts set on policy violations and misconfigurations.
  • Compliance posture mapped to frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, continuously.
  • No integration project, no developer time, no change to the applications.
  • Full runtime governance the same day.
Keelhaven is an illustrative company, invented so the structure can be shown in full. The shape is the point, not the facts.
